New Year’s Eve at Home? It’s Going to Be the Party of Your Life!
If life has led you to spend New Year’s Eve at home this year, don’t fret! New Year’s Eve can be just as fun and memorable without wild partying.
There are plenty of great activities to choose from even if you’re staying within the four walls. Join us!
You might not have considered it, but there are many advantages to celebrating the end of the year at home. The first and foremost is cost-effectiveness. You can save significant amounts of money as you don’t need to pay exorbitant prices at a crowded restaurant or leave a small fortune at a club for drinks. Plus, you don’t have to dress up (unless you want to), and you don’t have to endure a night in high heels. The weather isn’t exactly friendly this time of year either, so it’s much more pleasant to observe the cold, foggy outdoors from the warmth of your home rather than experiencing it firsthand. So, what can you do at home?
Cooking Party at Home
If you’re in the mood (and if pandemic regulations allow), invite your friends over and have a themed night! Exploring different national cuisines and their culinary specialties can be great fun. If you tend to stick to a few familiar flavors and dishes in the everyday rush, now’s the time to step out of your comfort zone and try something entirely new! Research the spices, the correct preparation methods of the dishes, and surprise your friends with something completely unexpected! If you’d like to keep some of the classic New Year’s ingredients, you can opt for Indian cuisine, which doesn’t shy away from lentils.
Epic Board Game Battle
You didn’t think board games were just for kids, did you? Board gaming is a real social experience that strengthens relationships within families and friend groups across generations. It teaches rule-following and forward planning, and it develops creativity—all skills that are incredibly useful in everyday life. 😉 If you want to truly unwind and focus on the game, put your phone aside for this time! As you engage in fierce battles with your game pieces, you’ll also have the opportunity to chat and spend quality time together.
Here are some board games you should try:
- Dixit
- Cockroach Poker
- Dobble
- Ego
- Codenames
- Relativity
- Imagine
Karaoke Party at Home
New Year’s Eve at home isn’t complete without music and dancing—be the star of the party! You don’t need to invest in a karaoke set; good old YouTube is here to help. Create a playlist with your friends of songs you all know! Choose the karaoke versions, so you can sing along with the lyrics displayed. To make the lyrics more readable and visible to everyone, connect your laptop, tablet, or phone to the TV with an HDMI cable. If you’re up for it, you can also have a themed night where you dress up according to different music eras. Disco queen? The sixth member of the Spice Girls? Backstreet Boys’ background singer? The choice is yours!
