Budget-Friendly Programs for March

After the past few gray and dull months, spring is finally knocking on the door. This is great news for everyone who loves organizing outdoor activities, as most of us happily escape the warm confines of our rooms to enjoy the fresh air. If you want to spend your time amidst the hustle and bustle of the city or the embrace of nature with exciting spring activities, but your wallet doesn't always agree with you, here are some tips for this month recommended by our student union!

Visit the Buda Arboretum!

At the southern foot of Gellért Hill, on Villányi Road, you can find the former Horticultural University’s Buda campus, surrounded by one of the country's richest yet less-known arboretums. Declared a nature reserve in 1975, the arboretum features numerous ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, and other decorative plants. The Upper Garden also includes a herb garden and a rock garden. The arboretum is free to visit from eight in the morning until six in the evening in the summer, making it a truly budget-friendly outdoor activity!

Exercise Outdoors!

There's no better time for this than the pleasant spring evenings when the sun isn't too hot, and the chilly winter dusks are long gone. Put on your running shoes or grab your yoga mat and head to the nearest park! Spending just half an hour exercising outdoors every day can make you much more effective in your work and studies. Exercise helps clear your mind, organize your thoughts, and significantly improve your fitness.

Hop on Two Wheels!

Take advantage of the good weather and choose a scooter or a bike instead of walking or public transport! Whether you're heading to a lecture or work, it will do you good to enjoy the nice weather instead of stressing on the bus. If you don't have a bike, borrow one from someone or use bike-sharing services; you can easily afford a scooter yourself if you work a few extra hours this month. 😉 Plus, you won’t find a more eco-friendly solution for city transportation!

Check Out a Wardrobe Sale!

Is your wardrobe too small? Or do you have too many clothes? There's no better way to free up some space in your closet than a community wardrobe sale! Gather your friends, rent a table together, and sell everything you no longer wear! You might not come home empty-handed either, making it a budget-friendly way to refresh your spring wardrobe. 😉

Head to Normafa – Even by Chairlift!

Few better spring activities in Budapest can be mentioned than a hike in Normafa combined with a chairlift ride. If you haven't tried it yet, now is the time to take a ride on the city's most unique means of transport! You can reach the chairlift's lower station from Széll Kálmán Square by bus in half an hour, and after a roughly 12-minute "ride," you can reach Normafa with a pleasant, maximum half-hour walk. A full-price ticket for the chairlift costs 1,000 HUF, and it’s 600 HUF for those under 19 years old.
