1. Adventure in Italy

In Under the Tuscan Sun, the protagonist, Frances, finds her life in ruins after a divorce and selling her house. Encouraged by her friend, she travels to Tuscany to forget her troubles, where she unexpectedly falls in love with a run-down villa named Bramasole. Acting on a whim, she buys the house and decides to start a new life in Tuscany. As she gradually renovates the villa, she embarks on numerous adventures and makes new friends. Naturally, true love also finds her in the end… Under the Tuscan Sun is a light, lovable romantic story that brings sunshine to grey days.

2. Adventure in Greece

You probably don’t need an introduction to Mamma Mia!, but have you seen the second part of the story? The sequel, titled Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, also features ABBA songs and runs on two timelines: the present and back to 1979, where we learn about Donna Sheridan’s arrival on the island of Kalokairi. The first part of the film explores Donna’s past and introduces her daughter’s "three" fathers. Young Donna, played by Lily James (known from Cinderella and Downton Abbey), perfectly embodies the energetic character we loved in the first film. The visuals, the characteristic colors of Mamma Mia!, and the exotic island atmosphere combine to let us experience the Greek way of life for an hour and a half.

3. Adventure in North America

If you thought Reese Witherspoon could only shine in pink, glittery stories, you are mistaken. In Wild, she portrays Cheryl, a young woman who feels she has lost everything. Despite never having hiked before, she decides to tackle the Pacific Crest Trail, one of the longest hiking trails in North America. As she walks along the west coast of the United States, she meets many people, makes new friends, and has some frightening adventures. And by the end of the journey – who knows – she might even find herself.

4. Adventure in India

In The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a group of British retirees travels to India to stay in a hotel advertised as a renovated luxury resort. Unfortunately, the reality is far below expectations: the hotel is crumbling, there is no water or phone service, and it’s nothing like what was shown in the advertisement. Despite the louder and busier environment, the place soon becomes increasingly attractive to them. Although this wasn’t what they planned for, life still has a big adventure in store for them in their retirement years. The film captures the bustling, eastern atmosphere well, which will also lift your spirits.

5. Adventure in Spain

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a romantic film co-produced by the United States and Spain. The two protagonists, Vicky and Cristina, decide to escape their mundane lives and spend the summer in Barcelona. While Vicky wants to study Catalan culture, Cristina seeks happiness and the meaning of life. Naturally, the story wouldn't be complete without a love affair: when they meet the charming painter Juan Antonio, both of their lives turn upside down. If you enjoy the performances of Scarlett Johansson or Penélope Cruz, this film is perfect for a relaxing evening.
